For me the
canals of East London represent an artery of green and
peace in an area that is heavily populated and being constantly
built around. It is a site dedicated to showing the bio-diversity
in our midst in the hope of assuring its future while
the Olympic Games facilities get built.
I am anxious that all the local wildlife does not get
displaced and all the areas of natural beauty are not
replaced by buildings and a flat stretch of park where
all the kingfishers, birds of prey, foxes, water rats
and water birds are gone as has happened to so much else
around here.
I for one want to preserve this unique habitat where I
enjoy walking, cycling and running and I see many others
enjoy it too. Please contribute to this site. If you have
pictures send them in for the galleries or email me your
experiences of the area and any wildlife sightings you
have made.
Let me know if you think litter or vandalism or robbery
has been a threat to you and let me know what other improvements
you believe should be made.
